Alex Trebek of Jeopardy! Confirmed to Host
Promotion Partner: Hollywood & Highland Center
WHAT:
In this year’s edition of The Big Picture, the Los Angeles Philharmonic Association and the American Film Institute (AFI) reunite on Sunday, September 4, to bring the world premiere of AFI’s Great American Movie Quiz to the Hollywood Bowl. Film buffs and music lovers alike are invited to participate in this first-time-ever live movie trivia experience.
Alex Trebek, winner of five Daytime Emmy Awards as Outstanding Game Show Host of the popular show Jeopardy! will host this extraordinary evening at the Hollywood Bowl. Trebek will take the audience through 20 multiple choice questions covering film trivia from every genre and decade. Members of the audience, each furnished with a set of multi-colored glow sticks, will be asked to reveal their answers by selecting the glowstick that corresponds to their choice. Collectively, the audience will light up the entire Hollywood Bowl with their guesses. Questions about the movies and music are then answered live by the Hollywood Bowl Orchestra, conducted by one of Hollywood’s foremost film composers, David Newman, as a corresponding movie clip plays on the Bowl’s big screen.
AFI’s Great American Movie Quiz reunites the Los Angeles Philharmonic Association and the American Film Institute, who first partnered at the Hollywood Bowl in 2005 for The Big Picture: AFI’s 100 Years of Film Scores and again in 2006 for The Big Picture: AFI’s Greatest Movie Musicals.
