WHAT:
The Hollywood Bowl 2012 jazz series moves forward with a star-studded homage to the legacy of musical genius Ray Charles on Wednesday, July 11. One of the strongest elements in Ray Charles’ life, and the most concentrated driving force, was music. Ray often said, “I was born with music inside me. That’s the only explanation I know.” This concert is a tribute not only to his love of music but also his diverse musical taste with a host of special guest vocalists from different genres plus the Count Basie Orchestra, the Raelettes, an all-star band and strings.
