  • Award Marks 15th Win for Iconic Amphitheater

    LOS ANGELES (February 7, 2020) - The Hollywood Bowl, one of the leading outdoor music venues in the world and the summer home of the Los Angeles Philharmonic, was honored as the winner of the Outdoor Concert Venue of the Year last night at the 31st Annual Pollstar Awards at The Beverly Hilton in Beverly Hills, CA. Previously the Hollywood Bowl was awarded Best Major Outdoor Concert Venue by Pollstar fourteen consecutive times. This year’s distinction affirms the Hollywood Bowl as a premier destination for performers and audiences alike.

    Renowned for its exquisite setting, the Hollywood Bowl plays host to a tremendous range of artists, from classical and pops to jazz, rock, and world music. During the 2019 season, the Hollywood Bowl concert series included performances by Gustavo Dudamel and the Los Angeles Philharmonic, John Legend, Hugh Jackman, Leon Bridges, Chrissy Hynde, Damian “Jr. Gong” Marley, Tony Bennett, Cyndi Lauper, Kristin Chenoweth, Natalia Lafourcade, Michael McDonald, Chaka Khan, The Gipsy Kings, Buddy Guy, Death Cab for Cutie, Pink Martini, The Roots, Barry Manilow, Gladys Knight, Ben Harper, Neneh Cherry, Earth, Wind & Fire, Café Tacvba, and Gary Clark Jr., as well as the Hollywood Bowl Orchestra, led by Thomas Wilkins, and many others. Special presentations by the LA Phil included the Playboy Jazz Festival, film nights with live orchestra, Gustavo Dudamel teaming up with LA Dance Project led by choreographer Benjamin Millepied for Prokofiev’s Romeo and Juliet, Herbie Hancock presenting jazz’s next generation of trailblazers, Into the Woods with an all-star cast, Bramwell Tovey leading the LA Phil in the annual Tchaikovsky Spectacular, Ivan Lins and his big band celebrating the music of Brazil, and America in Space, a 50th anniversary celebration of the moon landing.

    The team of Live Nation-Hewitt Silva also brought a star-studded lineup that included performances from Chris Tomlin, New Kids on the Block, Marco Antonio Solis, The Who, Vampire Weekend, Heart, Lionel Richie, Sara Bareilles, Rod Stewart, Jonas Brothers, Logic, Mary J. Blige & Nas, Morrissey, Lana Del Rey, Lauryn Hill, the premiere of Kanye West’s Nebuchadnezzar, and the annual We Can Survive concert, featuring Halsey, Billie Eilish, Lizzo, and Taylor Swift.

    The Pollstar Awards honor the best of the worldwide concert industry. The awards are peer-voted, and winners are determined by the international readership of Pollstar.  

    Programming for the 2020 summer season at the Hollywood Bowl will be announced on February 18, 2020.
