Based on a classic Russian folktale, Igor Stravinsky’s ballet The Firebird is full of magic and romance. It tells the story of the handsome Prince Ivan, his beautiful princess Katerina, and the magical firebird that saves them from the evil King Kaschei. These performances will be conducted by Dudamel Fellow Rodolfo Barráez and will feature a full performance of Stravinsky’s Firebird Suite set to dance.

This concert is recommended for children ages 5 to 11.

Gustavo Dudamel hosts and conducts this holiday favorite with a twist. Leading selections from both Tchaikovsky’s The Nutcracker as well as Billy Strayhorn and Duke Ellington’s The Nutcracker Suite, a swinging reimagination of the many colors and drama of the original.

Inspired by the friendship between composers Florence Price and Margaret Bonds, whose mutual support helped them break down barriers in the classical music world of the early 20th century, Rock My Soul weaves together music and poetry to celebrate both historical and present-day Black women artists. Curated by soprano Julia Bullock, the Rock My Soul Festival shines a light on the power of creative community.
