The LA Phil is continuing to open new doors for early-career individuals through a diverse offering of internships, fellowships, and residencies. In alignment with our commitment to equity and access, these opportunities support the next generation of artists, arts administrators, and essential behind-the-scenes professionals.
Workforce Development Programs
Through collaborative efforts with local youth-oriented organizations, Community Residencies broaden the opportunities available for emerging professionals in photography, education, horticulture, and the greater arts field.
This partnership between the LA Phil, YOLA, and IATSE Local 33 supports early‑career and aspiring stage technicians with access to training, certifications, and paid work experience at the Beckmen YOLA Center.
This annual fellowship provides paid, two-year professional experience for YOLA alumni interested in arts administration, nonprofit leadership, and community engagement.
Artist Development Programs
The fellowship prepares early-career musicians committed to under-resourced communities to compete for, and win, positions in major orchestras.
Tuition-free mentorship and performance opportunities for young composers in Los Angeles.
In partnership with the Philharmonie de Paris and Esa-Pekka Salonen, the fellowship nurtures rising conductors.
Serving as the inaugural Leni Boorstin Fellow has given me the wonderful opportunity to learn from industry professionals, connect with a network of mentors, and the confidence to pursue a career in arts administration. Since completing the Fellowship, I am now serving as the Assistant Manager of Community and Government Engagement, and I am excited to put what I learned during my time as a Leni Boorstin Fellow into practice.
LA County Arts Internship
Sponsored by the County’s Board of Supervisors, this 10-week paid internship with the LA Phil’s Artistic Department provides undergraduates with a broader perspective of the local arts and cultural landscape.
