The LA Phil collaborates with artists, civic leaders, fellow nonprofits, and other partners across Los Angeles County who believe that arts and culture are vital to public life.
Over a Century of Partnership with LA County
Celebrating 100 years in 2024, the partnership between the LA Phil and Los Angeles County reflects a shared commitment to artistic excellence and public access. Since the Bowl’s founding in 1924, when its founders gifted the property to the County, the Hollywood Bowl has served as both a public park and cultural gathering place.
Today, all three LA Phil home venues are owned by and operated in partnership with Los Angeles County. Public support from the County Board of Supervisors, the LA County Arts Commission, and other entities helps sustain the LA Phil’s work, including YOLA (Youth Orchestra Los Angeles), free concerts, and artistic initiatives.
We express our deepest gratitude to the County of Los Angeles for its unwavering support and vision.
From those early days at the Bowl to John Anson Ford’s pivotal efforts in the mid-20th century to the leadership of today’s Supervisors—Hilda L. Solis (Chair), Holly J. Mitchell, Lindsey P. Horvath, Janice K. Hahn, and Kathryn Barger—the County has championed arts and culture, and we’re grateful to be a part of that commitment for the Los Angeles community past, present, and future.
Current Partners
Prior to youth programs at Walt Disney Concert Hall and The Ford, LA Commons artists provide onsite arts activities and are provided with youth job training.
Each season young photographers develop skills for shooting live performances and creating photo essays through this program at The Ford.
Diverse young adults interested in environmental careers gain certifications and valuable hands-on experience in landscaping and ecology at The Ford.
When I come back to The Ford and bring someone, I can say ‘I did that plant!’ and know it’s not just any plant, but one that’s helping the environment.
