The Conductor with José Ángel Salazar Marín
What does a conductor really do? In this concert, we will explore the history of the conductor’s role—how it began and how it’s evolved over time. Through musical examples from as early as the 1600s to as recent as the 21st century, we’ll see how conductors have guided everything from precision to expression. Join Gen-Z maestro José Ángel Salazar Marín for an exciting “Eras Tour” of the conductor, as he demonstrates its role as a storyteller, collaborator, and leader in bringing music to life.
About Symphonies for Schools Secondary
The Symphonies for Schools Secondary program invites students from throughout Los Angeles to experience interactive concerts that incorporate theatrical elements to contextualize the music. The in-person program includes free admission to a concert performed by the Los Angeles Philharmonic at Walt Disney Concert Hall for music students in grades 6–12.
