About this Performance

The exciting Venezuelan conductor Domingo Hindoyan leads the LA Phil in Prokofiev’s majestic Fifth Symphony, conceived by the composer as “glorifying the grandeur of the human spirit” set against the backdrop of World War II drawing to a close. Khatia Buniatishvili is “an extraordinary pianist with a magnificent technique, an inherent musicality and … a genuine musical personality” (Los Angeles Times), and the Georgian pianist returns for Rachmaninoff’s heart-on-its-sleeve Second Piano Concerto.
