Transportation & Parking
There are many ways to get to the concert hall. Explore each option to learn more.
Parking
Parking is available directly beneath Walt Disney Concert Hall. Enter on Second Street or Lower Grand Avenue. Regular parking costs $10 beginning at 4:30pm for weekday concerts, two hours before matinees, and all day on weekends.
Take the Metro
Skip the traffic and take advantage of the new Grand Avenue Arts/Bunker Hill station (A and E Lines) across the street from Walt Disney Concert Hall or the Civic Center/Grand Park Metro station (B and D Lines), which is a one-block walk up the hill to the Hall. The Metro offers direct service from as far away as Santa Monica, Long Beach, Azusa, and East LA.
Rideshare and Drop-off
All rideshare, access, and drop-off vehicles are welcome to unload passengers on Grand Avenue in front of the Concert Hall. Loading zone signs indicate the preferred spot for passenger drop off.
FAQs: What to Expect
When should I arrive?
It’s a good idea to arrive 60 minutes before your concert’s start time to allow for parking, finding your seat, and other activities such as visiting our concessions or browsing the LA Phil Store before the performance begins. Late arrivals will be seated at the first appropriate pause in the program, at the discretion of venue staff.

What should I wear?
If you're planning a visit to Walt Disney Concert Hall and wondering what to wear, you’re not alone! While concert halls might conjure visions of people in tuxedos and stiff gowns, there is no formal dress code here. Attending a concert should be about enjoying the music, not worrying about how you look. Read our guide on What to Wear to help you feel confident about your visit.
Are there any customs that I need to know?
Although no special knowledge or experience is needed to enjoy an orchestral concert, certain practices have become customary:
- After the orchestra is seated, the first person to come onstage is the concertmaster (the lead first violinist), who is greeted with applause and then initiates the tuning process. Next comes the conductor (with or without soloist), who is again greeted with applause. Once the conductor has bowed and turned towards the orchestra, everyone becomes quiet so the music can begin.
- Silence is the canvas on which music is experienced, so for maximum concentration and enjoyment, the audience should be as quiet as possible. In the sensitive acoustics of Walt Disney Concert Hall, even the slightest noise can be a significant distraction. What would normally go unheard in daily life (whispering, humming, tapping, turning pages, etc.) is noticed by everyone around you. Mobile phones and all other electronic devices must be silenced before the performance begins.
When should I applaud? This has been the subject of much debate. The tradition for the last hundred years or so has been to clap only at the very end of a piece, no matter how many individual movements there are. In a recital, the custom is to applaud after a group of pieces, as indicated in the program. The purpose of waiting is to maintain an unbroken atmosphere so that the piece retains its unity and that any spell the music has cast remains unbroken. But in earlier times, it was not unusual for the audience to respond with spontaneous applause, sometimes even insisting that a movement be repeated before a piece could continue. Today, as more music lovers attend classical programs for the first time, enthusiastic applause does occasionally break out between movements. If you are worried about when to applaud, the safest course is to wait until the conductor has turned around to face the audience and everyone is clapping.
Seating Options
Every seat at Walt Disney Concert Hall offers a clear view and ideal acoustics across a 360° layout, but here are a few tips on choosing the best seat for you:
For a piano performance
Look for a seat in the left of Front Orchestra, Orchestra East, or Terrace East (to see the piano keys or the pianist’s hands). If you’d rather see the pianist’s face, Orchestra West and Terrace West are great options.
For a view of the conductor
The Orchestra View seats (also known as bench seats that are located above and behind the stage) will give you a good view of the conductor’s face. Some folks even say that sitting here feels like you’re in the orchestra. Bench seats are available for select concerts.
For a fresh perspective
Ever wanted to see a marimba played up close—or catch every expression from the conductor? Seats in nontraditional sections, such as the Orchestra View, offer an up-close look at the musicians, instruments, and conductor in action.
