Kwamé Ryan Leads Adams & Copland

Fri / Oct 2, 2026 - 8:00PM

The Grammy-winning conductor makes his LA Phil debut with an all-American program.

About this Performance

Hailed as a “dynamic conductor” by the Baltimore Sun, Kwamé Ryan makes his LA Phil debut pairing the thrills of John Adams’ Short Ride in a Fast Machine with the mighty power and heroism of Copland’s brass-filled Symphony No. 3. This all-American program arrives right on time, following Ryan’s first Grammy win for his recording of Jake Heggie’s opera Intelligence, inspired by two female spies from the American Civil War.

This performance is generously supported by the Elaine and Bram Goldsmith Great Artists Fund.

Please Note: Due to a scheduling conflict, Yuja Wang regrets that she will not be able to appear as previously announced. Additional details about the updated program will be announced as soon as they are confirmed. For any questions about this change, email Audience Services at information@laphil.org
