Seong-Jin Cho

Walt Disney Concert Hall

A favorite of LA Phil and worldwide audiences, Seong-Jin Cho is back, this time with a colorful program and “such a command of his instrument that, when he dials things down, he forces the listener to lean in and pay that much closer attention” (The Boston Classical Review).

Winner of the 2015 International Chopin Competition, the South Korean star pianist revisits the composer’s repertoire, performing Chopin’s 14 Waltzes on the Walt Disney Concert Hall stage. Ahead of the waltzes, Cho invites the audience into Liszt’s shimmering depiction of Italy’s splashy and elaborate water fountains followed by Beethoven and Bartók selections that channel both the gentle serenity and vivacity of the countryside.
