JEFFREY GRANT is a professional percussionist based in Los Angeles. He has performed regularly with the Los Angeles Philharmonic since 2014. He has also performed on the LA Phil’s Green Umbrella series. Jeffrey has also played with the New World Symphony in Miami Beach, Florida, the Tucson Symphony (Arizona), the Santa Barbara Symphony, and the Fresno Philharmonic, among others. He has worked with many orchestral conductors in the field today including Gustavo Dudamel, John Williams, Esa-Pekka Salonen, Michael Tilson Thomas, Leonard Slatkin, and Gerard Schwarz. Jeffrey held the positions of Principal Timpanist of the Debut Symphony Orchestra and Percussionist and Assistant Timpanist of the American Youth Symphony Orchestra from 2012 - 2014.
His work can be heard on the iTunes session with the platinum certified recording band OneRepublic, which was recorded live at Capitol Records in Hollywood. In April of 2014, he was the featured soloist in John Mackey’s Drum Music during Eastern Michigan University’s Alumni Band Concert.
While he is not performing, he is the percussion instructor for the Esperanza Azteca Youth Orchestra of Los Angeles, which provides free music education to children in the Cypress Park community.
Jeffrey holds a Bachelor of Music degree from Eastern Michigan University, Master of Music degree from the University of Michigan, as well as a Percussion Performance Graduate Certificate from the University of Southern California. While attending USC, he studied with Principal Timpanist Joseph Pereira as well as Percussionist Jim Babor of the Los Angeles Philharmonic.
