Joey Waronker

About this Artist

JOEY WARONKER started playing drums when he was 9, and began playing professionally as a teen-ager. Over his 25-year career, Waronker has played with some of the most influential artists of our time, most notably Beck, Paul McCartney, Johnny Cash, REM, The Smashing Pumpkins, Norah Jones, Elliot Smith, Air, and most recently, as a member of the band Atoms for Peace, fronted by Thom Yorke. He attended Macalester College in St Paul, where his college band, Walt Mink, was a Rolling Stone buzz band signed to Caroline Records. He embarked on his first world tour in the early ’90s. In 1993, Joey met Beck in Los Angeles. They began working together almost immediately, resulting in an enduring relationship that has seen numerous world tours and albums, from Odelay through Modern Guilt, and even Beck’s 2009 production for Charlotte Gainsbourg’s IRM.
