About this Artist
Laura Kukkonen was born in Helsinki, Finland in 2001 and started to play the violin at the age of seven. She began her studies at East-Helsinki Music Institute, where she also started her orchestral and chamber music studies. In 2012 she got a chance to play Vivaldi’s “Spring” Concerto with the Helsinki Philharmonic Orchestra. Her first competition experience was in 2012 in the International Anton Rubinstein Competition, where she won the first prize and got to play on a Carlo Bergonzi violin for one year. Later, in 2016 she attended the same competition and won the second prize. In 2016, she was accepted for study with professor Réka Szilvay at the Sibelius Academy Youth Department, where she continues her studies.
