About this Artist
Norah Fong (age 17) has been a fellow in LA Phil Composer Fellowship Program since 2020. She studies cello with Sarah Freeman and music composition with Jordan Nelson. Her pieces have been played by members of the LA Phil and Hub New Music. Having debuted as a soloist at Carnegie Weill Recital Hall in 2018, she recently took first prize at the 2021 International Music Competition Bonn Grand Prize Virtuoso. Presently, she is honored to serve as a second-time Principal Cellist for the Colburn Chamber Orchestra. As a three-time CalASTA finalist, she took second place in the 2020 California state round. Norah combines her fascination for music and neuroscience as a Research Assistant at the Brain and Creativity Lab at USC. She is also the founder of a leadership program at the South Bay STEM Foundation, where students give back by providing STEM-based classes to Title 1 schools.
