About this Artist
Rachel Mugemancuro is a 16-year-old junior at Harvard-Westlake. She has played the violin for almost 12 years and has enjoyed such opportunities as soloing with the Spokane Symphony and serving as concertmaster of the Glendale Youth Symphony and CAIS Honors Orchestra, as well as participating in the chamber program of the Pasadena Conservatory and her school’s chamber club, Cadence for a Cause. Most recently, she has enjoyed performing with the American Youth Symphony, as well as participating in the 2020 program of the National Youth Orchestra – USA. While Rachel enjoys both competing and performing, she loves composition and is greatly inspired by a range of incredibly talented artists such as Jennifer Higdon, Ludwig Göransson, and Ramin Djawadi. Outside of music, Rachel enjoys learning about foreign affairs. Rachel is a 2020/21 fellow in the LA Phil Nancy and Barry Sanders Composer Fellowship Program.
