Sage Shurman

About this Artist

Sage Shurman is a 14-year-old sophomore at Flintridge Preparatory School. Sage studies composition with Professor Ian Krouse of UCLA.  Sage loves telling stories through her compositions and has composed a piano concertino, several chamber pieces, and many scores for short animations. Sage is a 2020/21 fellow in the LA Phil Nancy and Barry Sanders Composer Fellowship Program. Last year she was a Luna Labs Composition Fellow where she studied under Gity Razaz. Sage composed a piano trio for Luna Labs, Fairytale, which will be performed and recorded by members of the Los Angeles Chamber Orchestra. Sage is also an accomplished pianist studying under Roger Wright. She has performed as a soloist several times for the Thousand Oaks Philharmonic and the L.A. Youth Philharmonic. In her world outside of music, Sage is a first-team, all-CIF soccer player who has been selected for numerous U.S. soccer national training centers.
