About this Artist
The UCLA Bruins Marching Band, also known as “The Solid Gold Sound,” was formalized in 1928 after evolving from a pep band and ROTC band. It has grown into a premier 250-member ensemble, representing the nation’s top public university on the local, national, and international stage. The Band performs regularly in support of UCLA athletics as well as private events, TV and movie appearances, recording engagements, and major corporate functions.
Highlights of the Band’s international travel include Hong Kong for the Chinese New Year Parade in 2006 and 2008; Nagoya, Japan, for the Annual Ekitopia Festival Parade in 2010 and 2018; and Taiwan for the Taoyuan International Band Festival in 2016. TV appearances have included The Amazing Race, The Goldbergs, Lip Sync Battle, and multiple episodes of The Ellen DeGeneres Show.
A frequent collaborator with major pop and rock acts, the UCLA Band opened for the Rolling Stones on their “50 & Counting” Tour at the Staples Center in Los Angeles and was featured on “Pressure” with English rock band Muse, and most recently, recorded “ON” with international K-pop sensation BTS for their album Map of the Soul: 7, the world's best-selling album of 2020.
