The vision for "Island Woman Rise" is to create an unforgettable experience on the Ford stage that pays tribute to the strength and influence of women and gender-expansive people, especially within the Filipino community and communities of color.

Inspired by the song “Us” by Ruby Ibarra featuring Klassy, Rocky Rivera and Faith Santilla that declares the power of Filipina women, this event is a celebration of fierce artistic prowess and also a stage to amplify their voices and stories. We are thrilled to have the night led by Ruby Ibarra, a prominent hip-hop artist, community activist, and beloved figure within the Filipino community, as well as special guests: Echo Park’s own Pinay emcee, Klassy; Bay Area emcee and journalist Rocky Rivera, Canadian multi-hypenate artist Kimmortal, and Los Angeles poet Faith Santilla.

Ruby's unique blend of music and advocacy has inspired many, and her feature will undoubtedly add immense value to the event. Underscored by the live music hip hop, rock, and spoken word genres, this event will serve as an inspiring platform for cultural representation and empowerment, echoing the spirit of Filipino American History Month.
