I began studying Suzuki violin at the age of 3, and continue to study advanced repertoire today. After spending 10 years touring and recording with popular indie-rock groups such as Bright Eyes and M. Ward, I settled into teaching (although I'm still playing shows now and again). Dedicated to lifelong learning, I have taken Suzuki Violin Teacher Training courses for Books 1-7, as well as other supplemental classes offered by the Suzuki Association of the Americas. I studied music and composition at Columbia College in Chicago, and received a BA from the University of Illinois, Chicago. I was also a member and a board member of the Chicago Metropolitan Orchestra before I moved to Los Angeles last year. I am currently the Director of the Suzuki Strings program at Cornerstone Music Conservatory, and I have a great group of private students.

I love working with young musicians – when I was young I felt that I didn’t have any role models that spoke to me or my experience. It is my quest to be that role model and inspire them to play at a high level and convince them it is worth the work! I also enjoy working with other teachers. I learn so much by being with other teachers, and I hope to share new ideas – teaching is an ever-evolving work of art!
