Cargill Foundation, Lee and Hope Landis Warner YOLA Student Fund, Norma D. Kayser Trust, Max H. Gluck Foundation, Pasadena Showcase House for the Arts, Legacy Foundation, The Rose Hills Foundation, the Los Angeles County Board of Supervisors through Los Angeles County Arts Commission, Estate of Judith Lynne, Amgen Foundation, and Toyota Motor Sales, Inc.

WHAT:

The Los Angeles Philharmonic and St. Thomas the Apostle Church present a free neighborhood chamber music concert featuring LA Phil members Mitchell Newman, violin; Camille Avellano, violin; Leticia Oaks Strong, viola; Jason Lippmann, cello; and Oscar M. Meza, bass; along with the St. Thomas Parish School Choir; YOLA at LACHSA Chamber Orchestra; YOLA at HOLA Cello Ensemble; YOLA at EXPO String Quartet and YOLA at EXPO String Ensemble, on Monday, April 24, at 7pm.

The Los Angeles Philharmonic's Neighborhood Concerts include free orchestra, chamber music and jazz concerts in churches, community centers and other local venues around Southern California. The Los Angeles Philharmonic has been presenting free Neighborhood Concerts for over 20 years, as part of the organization's dedication to making music accessible to the widest possible audience.

Celebrating its 10th anniversary, Youth Orchestra LA (YOLA) is Gustavo Dudamel's signature initiative through which the LA Phil and community partners provide free instruments, intensive music training, and academic support to students (ages 6-18) from vulnerable neighborhoods, empowering them to become passionate learners and vital citizens.

Beginning with 80 students in 2007, YOLA today serves nearly 800 students studying 15-18 hours per week at three after-school sites where mentorship and leadership training is integral. YOLA students have the opportunity to work with LA Phil musicians and world-renowned artists and conductors, travel to cities foreign and domestic, and perform in iconic venues Walt Disney Concert Hall and the Hollywood Bowl.

With this annual free community concert, the LA Phil celebrates graduating seniors, reflected in this year's program with Beatrice Padilla as violin soloist for the final piece on the program.

YOLA is made possible in South Los Angeles, the Rampart District and East Los Angeles through the following community partners, which share fiscal and programmatic responsibilities with the LA Phil: EXPO Center, a City of Los Angeles Recreation and Parks facility, Harmony Project, Heart of Los Angeles, and the LA County Office of Education, with special thanks to The Honorable Hilda L. Solis. Learn more at laphil.org/YOLA.
