Los Angeles, September 16, 2014 – Responding to its evolving audience, the Los Angeles Philharmonic debuts in/SIGHT, a new Friday night series at Walt Disney Concert Hall for the 2014/15 season. This multidisciplinary series features works by prominent video artists in tandem with orchestral and choral selections created to engage both the auditory and visual senses of LA Phil audiences.

All four in/SIGHT concerts are enhanced with video installations, and in some cases, additional artistic elements, for a complete and immersive experience. The series opens with LA Phil Conductor Laureate Esa-Pekka Salonen leading the orchestra in Edgard Varèse’s Amériques accompanied by a new video from Refik Anadol. Next on the schedule is a new staged production of Beethoven’s Missa Solemnis with video, conducted by Michael Tilson Thomas. The following event is the West Coast premiere of Unsuk Chin’s fully-staged opera Alice in Wonderland, featuring unique use of video projection created by Netia Jones, who also directs the production. The final concert of the series features Steve Reich’s Three Tales performed by Ensemble Signal and led by their music director Brad Lubman; LA Phil Music Director Gustavo Dudamel leads the LA Phil in the first half of the program. The production, featuring video from video artist Beryl Korot to accompany Three Tales, is also part of the LA Phil’s Next on Grand project.
