WHAT:            The Canadian period-instrument ensemble Tafelmusik comes to Walt Disney Concert Hall to present the multimedia event House of Dreams on Wednesday, March 13, 2013. The program includes works by well-known Baroque composers and explores the meeting places of visual art and music of the period.

Through the use of superb projected images, House of Dreams takes the listener on a journey to five European homes where exquisite works by Bach, Handel, Purcell, Telemann, Vivaldi and others were played against a backdrop of paintings by Vermeer, Canaletto and Watteau. The houses explored include the Handel House Museum (London), the Palazzo Smith Mangilli-Valmarana (Venice), the Golden ABC (Delft), the Palais-Royal (Paris) and the Bach Museum and Archive (Leipzig).

Hailed as one of the finest Baroque orchestras in the world, seventeen-member Toronto-based Tafelmusik has been active under the artistic leadership of Jeanne Lamon for over 30 years. Tafelmusik now reaches millions of people through extensive touring, critically acclaimed recordings, broadcasts, new media and artistic/community partnerships. The orchestra aims to provide innovative and creative programming ideas that bring concerts to life and make them fully relevant in a 21st-century context.
