WHAT:

LOS ANGELES, CA (March 17, 2015) – Four-time GRAMMY® award winning American soul singer and songwriter – and Universal Motown recording artist Erykah Badu – will perform at the Hollywood Bowl as part of KCRW’s World Festival series on Sunday, August 30.

Regarded as the “First Lady of Neo-Soul,” and best known for her eccentric style and cerebral music, Badu’s sound -- a concoction of soul, hip-hop and jazz -- cannot be contained to a single genre. Self-described as a “mother first”, Badu is a touring artist, dj, teacher, community activist, holistic healer, doula, vegan, and conscious spirit.

Soulive – brothers Alan and Neal Evans (drums & Hammond B-3 organ), and Eric Krasno (guitar) – perform at the Hollywood Bowl on Wednesday, August 5, joining Jamie Cullum and Lisa Fischer for this one-night-only Jazz Series concert.

Since forming in 1999, Soulive has carried the torch for the soul-jazz organ trio. In their 13 years together, Soulive has traveled in the direction of hip-hop, R&B, blues and rock, collaborating with the likes of Chaka Khan, Dave Matthews, Talib Kweli, John Scofield, Derek Trucks, Maceo Parker, Susan Tedeschi, Robert Randolph, Joshua Redman, Kenny Garrett, Fred Wesley, The Roots, Ivan Neville and so many others. But, no matter how they push the limits of the organ trio, they always come back to their bread and butter: blistering solos and grooves that don’t quit.
