Stream to Begin Tonight, April 14, at 8:50pm Pacific/11:50pm Eastern
WHAT:
As part of the new Pitchfork Live series, Sigur Rós' concert with the Los Angeles Philharmonic at Walt Disney Concert Hall will be streamed tonight, April 14, on Pitchfork's homepage and on Facebook Live, at 8:50pm Pacific/11:50pm Eastern.
The stream will feature a 50-minute set of Sigur Rós performing with the Los Angeles Philharmonic, led by LA Phil Conductor Laureate Esa-Pekka Salonen, and a 50-minute set of the band playing on their own. This will be the first live stream of a concert at Walt Disney Concert Hall.
For the first time ever, Sigur Rós will perform songs from their albums with the Los Angeles Philharmonic, marking their Walt Disney Concert Hall debut. These performances will include a blend of new and old music from Sigur Rós (with and without orchestra). The orchestral set will feature guest arrangements from Daníel Bjarnason, Dan Deacon, Owen Pallett, Nico Muhly, Anna Meredith, Missy Mazzoli, Páll Ragnar Palsson and David Lang.
Tonight's concert is one of three performances of Sigur Rós with the Los Angeles Philharmonic. The concerts are part of the LA Phil's Reykjavík Festival, a celebration of the profound artistic community in Iceland's capital. The festival kicked off last week and extends into May.
