  • Hollywood Bowl Recognized for Environmental Excellence

HOLLYWOOD, CA – The Hollywood Bowl has retained its designation as a Certified Audubon Cooperative Sanctuary through the Audubon Cooperative Sanctuary Program (ACSP), an Audubon International program.

Participation is designed to help property managers plan, organize, implement, and document a comprehensive environmental management program and receive recognition for their efforts. To reach certification, a property must demonstrate that they are maintaining a high degree of environmental quality in a number of areas including: Environmental Planning, Wildlife & Habitat Management, Outreach and Education, Water, and Resource Management. The Hollywood Bowl was designated as a Certified Audubon Cooperative Sanctuary in 2010. After designation, properties go through a recertification process every three years.

“The Hollywood Bowl has shown a strong commitment to its environmental program. They are to be commended for their efforts to provide a sanctuary for wildlife,” said Christine Kane, Executive Director at Audubon International. “The Audubon Cooperative Sanctuary Program benefits both people and wildlife,” said Kane. “It’s a great way for businesses and environmental organizations to work together to become better stewards of the land and natural resources.”

By participating in the ACSP, the Hollywood Bowl has been involved in projects that enhance habitat for wildlife and preserve natural resources for the benefit of the local community. These projects include conserving energy and reducing waste, utilizing integrated pest management techniques, naturalizing areas, and managing resources in an environmentally responsible manner.

One of the largest natural amphitheaters in the world, with a seating capacity of nearly 18,000, the Hollywood Bowl has been the summer home of the Los Angeles Philharmonic since its official opening in 1922 and plays host to the finest artists from all genres of music, offering something for everyone. It remains one of the best deals anywhere in Los Angeles; to this day, $1 buys a seat at the top of the Bowl for many classical and jazz performances. In February 2018, the Hollywood Bowl was named Best Major Outdoor Concert Venue for the 14th year in a row at the 29th Annual Pollstar Awards and was awarded the Top Amphitheater prize at the 2017 Billboard Touring Awards. For millions of music lovers across Southern California, the Hollywood Bowl is synonymous with summer.
