    LOS ANGELES (December 1, 2022) – The Los Angeles Philharmonic Association announces the re-election of Thomas L. Beckmen as Chair of its Board of Directors and the election of five additional board members who joined over the past 10 months: Nancy Abell, Winnie Kho, Andy Park, Geoffrey Rich and Regina Weingarten.  

    Chaired by Beckmen since 2019, the LA Phil’s Board of Directors enables everything the organization achieves on stage, in the community and as leaders in its field through the investment of time, vision and resources.

    Chad Smith, Chief Executive Officer, David C. Bohnett Chief Executive Officer Chair of the Los Angeles Philharmonic Association, said, “Tom  Beckmen has guided us with wisdom and a steady hand as we navigated three of the most eventful years in our institution’s history, and his generosity and commitment to YOLA (Youth Orchestra Los Angeles) propelled the program forward through the realization of the Beckmen YOLA Center. He has been an unfailingly thoughtful and dedicated partner for us all, and I’m thrilled we will benefit from his leadership for another two seasons.”

    Speaking of the members who have joined the Board, Smith said, “Our five new Directors offer us a diverse range of perspectives, a wealth of knowledge and a remarkable depth of experience at this critical moment in the LA Phil’s history as we not only resume our full activities but move forward with enthusiasm to new challenges and fresh achievements. Each of these new Directors shares in our commitment to the Los Angeles community and has a deep understanding of our work and our ambitions. We are honored to have them join us in defining the future of the organization.”

    Nancy Abell, elected to the LA Phil Board on Sept. 23, 2022, is a partner in the Los Angeles Office of Paul Hastings LLP, where she previously served as a member of its Executive Committee, global chair of its employment law practice, and outside labor and employment counsel to the LA Phil for 40 years. A graduate of Pitzer College and UCLA School of Law, Abell was named one of the decade’s 40 most influential lawyers by The National Law Journal. She is a Fellow of The College of Labor & Employment Lawyers and recipient of the Learned Hand Award. Abell serves on the UCLA School of Law Board of Advisors. She is a co-founder and co-chair of UCLA Law Women Lead, a 65-country network and leadership initiative to advance women in the legal profession.

    Winnie Kho, elected March 12, 2022, is the manager of KTW Properties, a predominantly commercial real estate holder. She currently serves on the board of KPCC/Southern California Public Radio and chairs the finance committee. Kho also serves on the DEI task force at KPCC. Her main philanthropic priorities are journalism, education and the arts. She is a trustee for her family’s foundation, the Mei Hu Chu Foundation. A Wellesley College graduate, Kho moved to the US from Singapore.

    Andy Park, elected June 10, 2022, is the EY Los Angeles Office Managing Partner. In addition to this role, Andy is a client-serving partner with nearly two decades of experience working with high-growth companies and large multinational organizations across the technology, media  and entertainment, retail and consumer products, private equity and real estate industries. The former co-director of the Entrepreneur of the Year Greater Los Angeles program, and a member of the Young Presidents’ Organization Golden West Chapter, an inclusive community of local chief executives that fosters local and global leadership connections, Andy also serves on the Board of Girl Scouts of Greater Los Angeles and on the Board of Directors for the Los Angeles Chamber of Commerce. Passionate about equity and access to the arts for all, Andy dedicates his time and energy to YOLA,  which provides young people with free instruments, intensive music instruction and opportunities to perform on stages in their communities and around the world. Andy is Korean-American and a first-generation college graduate with a Master of Professional Accounting from the University of Washington and a proud girl dad.

    Geoff Rich, elected Sept. 23, 2022, has been a theater and radio producer since 1976. He currently serves as President of Take on the Day LLC, a privately held radio and podcast production company formed in 2005. Rich co-founded Radio Today Entertainment, which grew to be one of the largest independent radio production companies in the country. In 1998 he joined ABC Radio Networks as Executive Vice President of Programing. From 2002-13, as Executive Director for The New Group theater in New York, Rich produced over 40 plays including the 2004 Tony Award winning musical Avenue Q. In 2000, he helped found the New York Gothams Youth Baseball. The organization’s mission is to provide competitive baseball for youth who would otherwise not be able to afford it. From 2002-21, Rich served as President of the Board of Trustees for Princeton University’s Summer Theater program. In 2014 he received the Michael Mendelson Award for Outstanding Contribution to Theater.

    Regina Weingarten was elected to the Board on Sept. 23, 2022. Regina was raised and educated in Paris, France. She received her Doctorate from the Sorbonne and has since dedicated her efforts to promoting cultural links between France and the United States. Regina’s philanthropic efforts have earned her several honors over the years including France’s highest and most prestigious award, the Légion d'Honneur. Regina and her husband, Gregory Annenberg Weingarten, a Vice President and Director of the Annenberg Foundation, lived and raised their family in Paris for over 25 years before moving to Los Angeles in 2015.Run in Regina serves on multiple boards and advisory committees including to name a few: Paris’ Les Talens Lyriques, the Paris Opera and Ballet and the Musée des Arts Décoratifs; London’s Royal Opera House, the National Gallery and the V&A Museum; New York’s Metropolitan Museum of Art; and Los Angeles’ LA Opera.
