About this Performance

One of Britain’s greatest composers, Benjamin Britten, was 28 and in America when he composed his vibrant First String Quartet. Thomas Adès, who was often spoken of as Britten’s logical successor when he first hit the scene, was only 23 when he composed Arcadiana, a string quartet that begins with an equally mysterious section before it takes off.

This performance is generously underwritten by Terri and Jerry Kohl.
