Los Panchos are a Mexican romantic musical trio considered one of the most influential Latin American bands of all time. Formed in New York City by two Mexicans and a Puerto Rican (Alfredo Gil, Jesús Navarro, and Hernando Avilés), they began their artistic journey on May 14, 1944, when they performed at the Hispanic Theatre in New York. They are recognized as pioneers in creating the romantic bolero with three perfectly blended voices and creating the requinto guitar (an invention of the director and founder of the trio, Alfredo Gil). Los Panchos gained international fame with their romantic boleros, especially in Latin America, the United States, and Japan, where they sold millions of records.The trio continues under the direction of Gabriel Vargas Aguilar, “Gabi Vargas,” and has continued to bring the romanticism of Trio Los Panchos throughout the world, winning recognition in the United States, Japan, China, and all of America, recording albums and singles and performing in the best theaters in the world.
