About this Performance
To commemorate Walt Disney Concert Hall’s twentieth anniversary, Getty, in collaboration with the LA Phil Insight initiative and Frank Gehry, present two exhibitions, Modeling Sound and Sculpting Harmony. Drawn from the extensive Frank O. Gehry Papers at Getty, the exhibitions celebrate the realization of this important Los Angeles landmark.
Modeling Sound In-person Exhibit
Modeling Sound showcases six architectural models of the concert hall at various stages of its design to highlight the critical role of modeling in Gehry’s architectural practice. The Modeling Sound in-person exhibit will be on view from October 5-29, 2023 in BP Hall, inside Walt Disney Concert Hall. The installation is free and open to ticketholders and during Walt Disney Concert Hall tour hours. Tour hours can be confirmed by visiting the Music Center website.
Sculpting Harmony Digital Exhibition
Sculpting Harmony, a digital exhibition available at gehry.getty.edu beginning October 5, features more than 150 models, sketches, and archival photographs documenting the concert hall’s development. New research, interviews, and innovative 3D media capture reveal the multidisciplinary process behind the building’s design.
LA Phil Insight is generously supported by Linda and David Shaheen.
